- Customer-centric expansion: CEO and Managing Director Jeroen van Tilburg leads IONITY into next phase of growth
- Expanding charging stations to urban areas
- Strengthening market presence across several European countries
- Relaunch of IONITY App in 2025 with optimized customer experience
Munich, Germany, 28 November 2024 – IONITY, a leading provider of high-performance charging (HPC) infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) across Europe, is entering a new phase of growth. CEO Jeroen van Tilburg, who joined the company this May outlines his vision for driving IONITY’s growth by focusing on customer needs and strategically expanding its charging network.
The approach includes plans for the company to invest in charging stations in urban areas in the coming years. IONITY has already made strides in this direction by launching hybrid locations such as IONITY Parsdorf close to Munich or the soon to open location in Mönchengladbach, situated at busy junctions connecting cities and highways. “We are embarking on a mission to meet our customers’ needs wherever they arise. While long-distance travel remains a priority, we recognize that only one out of 10 charging sessions is done on a highway. By expanding into metropolitan areas, we’re taking decisive steps to address everyday charging needs,” says van Tilburg.
To further enhance its network for long distance travel, IONITY plans to strengthen its presence in multiple European countries. Upholding its commitment to offer HPC stations no more than 150 km apart from one another, IONITY is expanding its infrastructure in key markets for EV sales like France, Sweden and the UK. “Established markets like Germany remain central to our growth, but as the charging industry evolves, we’re seizing opportunities in emerging areas,” says van Tilburg. With over 4500 charging points in 24 European countries, IONITY operates the largest pan-European HPC network delivering above 250 kW, accessible to all EV brands.
IONITY also aims to elevate the customer experience by relaunching its IONITY App in 2025. Originally developed as a payment tool, the updated app will feature improved route planning, a simplified charging experience and a streamlined user journey. These advancements, combined with on-site enhancements at charging stations, are setting the stage for an evolved user experience and highlight IONITY’s commitment to making EV charging as seamless and convenient as possible.
